Bolton Beer Festival

It was the 2013 Bolton Beer Festival on the 9th - 12th October and as usual we turned out on mass to enjoy the huge selection of cask ales, international beers and ciders (along with some great entertainment).

As always we had the honour of brewing the festival beer and this years beer was brewed by a special guest brewer....the one and only Mr John Feeney!  John came out of retirement as he felt he still had one more recipe in him....and here it is, his Swan Song.

An easy drinking amber beer brewed with Casacde and Calypso hops.

Awards Presentation

Last Friday Dave and Jen were invited by the East Lancashire branch of CAMRA to the 2nd Burnley Beer Festival where Dave was presented with a certificate for our Dark Mild.  It has been awarded gold in the mild category of the Champion Beer of Britain North West Regional Competition which was judged at the Clitheroe beer festival.  Dave was presented the award by Martin Snelling.

A great night was had and again we would like to thank everyone at the festival for their generous hospitality.  Pictures of the entire festival can be seen at http://www.whitetigerphotography.co.uk/bbf2013fridayindex.html

Bank Top Brewery Presents The Wrestling Series.

Inspired by David and Ian's wrestling past, each month we will be releasing a new beer named after a famous wrestling hold.  Every month throughout 2013 a new beer will be released and a percentage from their sales will go directly to Sharples Wrestling Club.  The money raised will be used to buy new equipment and make improvements to the clubs training base.

So far the series has included:
  • Grappler (3.7%) - Brewed using a new British hop variety this refreshing session bitter subtly combines delicate berry flavours with a soft floral bouquet.
  • Back Bridge (3.8%) - An easy drinking pale bitter with a crisp hoppy, citrus aftertaste.
  • Quarter Nelson (4.0%) - A pale straw bitter with a sharp bitterness and some herbal notes, followed by a clean refreshing dry hopped finish.
  • Chancery (3.9%) - A crisp amber beer brewed with a combination of New Zealand and American hops
And May's beer will be...
Bear Hug

A deep amber bitter with distinctive black fruit flavours and a delicate slightly spicy aroma
